Sweeping Sands

Sweeping Sands is a seascape photograph taken at Sand Key during a mid day exploration. Storm clouds were beginning to form which made my decision to head to the sands along the gulf coast. Mid afternoon photography in the open sun with its harsh shadows is not the photographers first choice of photography. However when storm clouds begin to form, it is a great opportunity to be part of what is to come.

Exploring the sands of Sand Key, my eye had caught a swaying movement across the soft sands which resembled a broom and it’s brushes wiping the shoreline as it cleans the shore under the overhead of clouds. I chose to include a slow shutter speed across the shoreline to give the impersonation I had envisioned of the soft bristles of a broom gently sweeping across the glistening sands. Although the journey ended up with a different outcome as anticipated, I was happy to have the opportunity to capture this Sand Key seascape photograph.

Printed on Hahnemuhle Baryta Fine Art paper, Sweeping Sands is an Open Edition Print. All prints are accentuated with a border, which is added to the print size. For example a 16″ x 9″ print with a border of .39″ will give the overall print a size of 16.8″ x 9.8″. Please consider this if adding a matte and or framing your print.
